Olu Deniz is worth to a visit during your “Blue Cruise” along the coast of Turkey. Olu Deniz lies 16km to the south of Fethiye, and enjoys a stunning location surrounded by soaring mountains. The Blue Lagoon of Olu Deniz has calm, crystal clear waters which makes it ideal for a variety of water sports and a very safe place for children to swim. Part of the lagoon is now a protected area ( National park). The breathtaking natural beauty of Olu Deniz has made it probably the most famous beach in Turkey. The main attraction of Olu Deniz is undoubtedly its long crescent-shaped swathe of coarse sand, shingle and pebble beach known as Belcekiz Beach. It sweeps around the bay to form a spit of sand, which separates the open sea from the cobalt blue waters of the lagoon. The lagoon area has not surprisingly been designated a National Park, and charges a small entrance fee to visitors (although access to Belcekiz Beach remains free). The beachfront is the place to head for in the evenings where you'll find an excellent choice of restaurants serving both local and International cuisine, bars, music bars and beach bars.
Evenings are pretty laid back but the atmosphere can get pretty lively, particularly in high season. For a treat you should try the excellent seafood restaurant set on the hillside above the resort, where the views are every bit as good as the food. Olu Deniz is the place where the western most point of the Taurus Mountains dip into the sea, to form sandy bays and coves...where sunlight reflects up of the pebbled seabed to turn the Med to turquoise...Where fertile plains wedge themselves between the limestone heights to create Lycia's market garden. Where cedared mountain plateaus collect their strength to drop with apple, quince and pear...Set into such a landscape lies the resort of Olu Deniz, with it's famous glistening Olu Deniz beach and Olu Deniz Blue Lagoon. Olu Deniz has one of the best beaches in the Med, perfect for sun worshippers and has to be seen to be believed. The perfect destination for a dreamlike sailing cruise in turkey or “Blue Voyage” in the Turkish Coast.
