Riomaggiore  developed vertically, is crossed by steps and stairs that spread among the houses which are built one next to the other and painted with the typical colours of Liguria. The construction material is of local origin: stones for the walls, slate for the roofing, yellow- or pink-coloured plaster for the façades.
