Ligurian Islands
The group of Tino and Tinetto islands, together with the larger one of Palmaria located in front of Portovenere, are a wonderful natural park, whales sanctuary, marine reserve and unusual site for sailing vacations thanks to the beauty of their beaches and coves. Just a short distance to La Spezia you’ll encounter a small fisherman village, Le Grazie, surrounded by a fashinating natural cove. An attractive visit is the well preserved archeological site of the “Varignano Roman Villa” and the late-gothic Sanctuary of S. Mary Le Grazie, with the annexed benedectine monastery, now private homes, in which refectory were discovered a fourteenth century’s fresco by Nicolò Corso.

Portovenere
Portovenere sits on a rocky peninsula on the Gulf of Poets, an area in the Gulf of La Spezia once popular with writers such as Byron, Shelley and DH Lawrence. Portovenere is southeast of the Cinque Terre at the end of the Italian Riviera, in the region of Liguria. The town is across the bay from Lerici, another village worth visiting. Portovenere is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The harbour is lined with brightly colored houses and narrow medieval streets lead up the hill to a castle and the main street of Portovenere, lined with shops, is entered through Portovenere's ancient city gate.
There is a picturesque church on the promontory, once the site of a temple to Venus (Venere in Italian) from which Portovenere gets its name. Nearby is Byron's Cave in a rocky area leading to the sea where the poet Byron used to swim. The ancient town of Portovenere is a perfect destination for romantic sailing yacht charters in Italian Riviera, and all the Gulf of Poets is one of the favourite destinations for luxury motor yacht charters. Tellaro
Sailing through the oriental coast of the Poets Gulf (Golfo dei Poeti), after the picturesque and evocative quips of Punta Bianca and Monte Marcello, there is a small village in a beautiful position on the promontory which separates the Gulf of Bocca di Magra: Tellaro, whose architecture is particularly suggestive. Tellaro is a sea village of old origin built on the rocks with strong fortifications which role was to control potential invaders coming from the sea. Tellaro is a typical village from the Riviera Ligure, with its houses next to each other, separated only by small steep and winding streets which end up in a small square, beyond which a long quip separates the village from the beautiful and untouched beaches that can be reached thanks to specific services.
